Five types of followers were identified by Kelley in his theory of followers: Conformists, Passives, Alienated, Exemplary, and Pragmatic. They exercise self-leadership, accept accountability, are dedicated, and actively seek feedback to continually enhance their performance. These followers lack initiative and critical thinking skills because they rely on the leader to tell them what needs to be done. Followers who are passive simply go along with the flow, carry out instructions, and then stop.A follower is a person who submits to direction, command, or leadership in order to help others achieve their objectives and carry out their tasks. Within a group or organization, a follower’s willingness to follow is referred to as being a follower, which is a reciprocal leadership process.Effective followers are proactive, trustworthy, self-directed, devoted, and committed to their organization’s mission. What categories are there for followers?
