What is important in a workshop?
A workshop can introduce a new concept, spurring participants to investigate it further on their own, or can demonstrate and encourage the practice of actual methods. It’s a great way to teach hands-on skills because it offers participants a chance to try out new methods and fail in a safe situation. The workshop method focuses on participatory, hands-on learning; small-group activity and problem solving; pair and small-group discussions; etc. As a result, because of the “active” rather than “passive” nature of the experience, larger numbers of learners are motivated to participate and learn. Understanding Workshop The main objective is to increase the expertise of each individual who attends the event on material related to group work. Workshop specific metrics How much more knowledge or understanding have you gained from the workshop in comparison to before you started? What do we believe is our return on time invested for this meeting? Was it worth our time? Were there any topics you thought should have been covered in the workshop that was not?
What is productivity in workshop?
Productivity is the principal KPI for a workshop to gauge profitability through the sale of available labour and one of the more easily calculated and understood KPI measurements. It is a matter of scale, but generally higher productivity % = greater profitability. So, productivity means doing more work during the same time frame, while efficiency means doing the same amount of work in less time. Even though productivity and efficiency are two separate things, we must know that they are interdependent. The four key types of productivity measures are capital productivity, material productivity, labor productivity, and total factor productivity. Regardless of industry, productivity training provides the building blocks to a more efficient workforce. When your employees learn and practice the tools, techniques and working processes fundamental to high productivity, they can add to your profit margin. KPIs are simply indicators that help a team understand what part of the business requires attention. If done right, they’ll reduce team stress not increase it. Because of this common misconception, I like to begin the workshop with a hopes and dreams exercise.

What is a workshop layout? A workshop layout refers to the placement of storage, machines, and workbenches in a confined space relative to each other. A poor workshop layout requires excessive traveling and handling between areas or may have too much disruption or clutter. If the shop is to be used primarily for woodworking, the minimum recommended area for the workshop is 75 square feet. An ideal shop would measure 125 square feet, to this area would be added a lumber storage area. The size of the shop is determined by the number of stationary power tools that it will hold.
