What is APA psych guidelines?
APA practice guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations for the assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders and are intended to assist in clinical decision making by presenting systematically developed patient care strategies in a standardized format. The five general principles of the American Psychological Association (APA) Code of Conduct state that all psychologists must strive to conduct themselves with beneficence and nonmaleficence, fidelity and responsibility, integrity, justice and respect for people’s rights and dignity. The APA has a federal structure, composed of three divisions—the Central, Eastern, and Pacific—and an administrative office that together make up a single organization.
