What Is A Quick Write Prompt?
A quick write prompt can be an open-ended question, a picture, a 360-degree image, a meme, an audio clip, or a brief video. Quick writes require students to write quickly and continuously in response to the prompt. They: give teachers the chance to formally evaluate students’ thinking. Described as a “brief written response to a question or probe,” a quick write asks students to quickly explain or comment on a given topic (Green, Smith, and Brown, 2007; Nunan, 2003). It is possible to use Quick Write at the start, middle, or end of the class (Mason, Benedek-Wood).
