To be anxious for nothing means we don’t need to be afraid, worried, alarmed or frightened about anything because all things work together for the good of those who love God. When Paul says, “do not be anxious about anything” he’s referring to anxiety that overwhelms and consumes. Not a general worry or care. We know this because earlier in his letter Paul commends Timothy for being anxious over the welfare of his people (Philippians 2:20). Prayer can eradicate anxiety and bring peace of mind – Philippians 4:6-7. For example, you might feel anxious when faced with a difficult problem at work, before taking a test, or before making an important decision. Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts, and physical changes like increased blood pressure. People with anxiety disorders usually have recurring intrusive thoughts or concerns. They may avoid certain situations out of worry. It can spur us on, help us stay alert, make us aware of risks and motivate us to solve problems. However, anxiety can be a problem if it affects your ability to live your life. If your anxiety is ongoing, intense, hard to control or out of proportion to your situation, it can be a sign of a mental health problem. Anxiety appears when your mind, body and soul are in a state of imbalance; it’s your spirit’s way of speaking to you and helping you on your life purpose and mission. Anxiety on a spiritual level has the power to transform your life. Difficult experiences in childhood, adolescence or adulthood are a common trigger for anxiety problems. Going through stress and trauma when you’re very young is likely to have a particularly big impact. Experiences which can trigger anxiety problems include things like: physical or emotional abuse.

The belief here is that anxiety shows that the person has not yet been able to put full trust in God, because fear itself is something that is meant to be relinquished as every person is meant to be part of God’s plan.
