MoodGym’ is a free online treatment program for young people aged 18 years and over. It is based on cognitive behavior therapy and interpersonal therapy and intended as a preventative and self-help tool for young people dealing with mild to moderate depression or anxiety. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy which have been shown to be successful in preventing and treating depression and anxiety. The effectiveness of moodgym in enhancing wellbeing and reducing users’ symptoms of anxiety and depression is widely supported by scientific research.NHMRC-funded mental health researchers at The Australian National University (ANU) developed MoodGYM, an interactive, automated, online program designed to prevent or reduce symptoms of depression. This evidence-based, self-help program has helped over one million people worldwide manage their mental health.A 2016 meta-analysis of 12 studies confirmed that moodgym is effective at reducing depression and anxiety symptoms in adult populations, with evidence suggesting that it is also effective at reducing general psychological distress.
