How rare is an INTJ?
The third most rare Myers-Briggs personality type is INTJ People who prefer INTJ make up 2.1% of the population. Among men, this type is a little more common with 3.3% of the population. Women, however, only make up 0.8% of the population for INTJs. Portrait of an INTJ Woman “INTJ is the rarest personality type for women.” In fact, at about 0.5 percent of the population, INTJ women might be the rarest of any gender/type combination (perhaps only rivaled by INFJ men). INFJ is the rarest personality type across the population, occurring in just 2% of the population. It is also the rarest personality type among men. INFJ stands for Introversion, Intuition, Feeling, and Judging. This unique combination is hard to find in most people. Below we dive into four common models used to determine personality types: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), 16 Personalities, The Big 5 and Type A, B, C and D Personalities. One of the most stunning things I learned came from career coach Penelope Trunk, CEO of Quistic: almost all top business leaders are INTJ or ENTJ personality types. And other research shows that INTJs are among the highest earning introverted personality types. Some might describe the INTP as the smartest personality type—rational, creative, and ceaselessly curious. Others might describe him as an insufferable know-it-all who can never admit he is wrong. One thing’s for sure—the INTP divides opinion.
Is INTP rare?
INTP is one of the less common types in the population, especially for women. Among women, INTP is the fourth rarest type (after INTJ, ENTJ, and INFJ). INTPs make up: 3% of the general population. INTPs often feel lonely because their intellect is overlooked due to their quiet, reserved nature. Analysis, skepticism, and a thirst for knowledge are defining qualities of the INTP type, but many people simply want social charisma, charm, and easy chit-chat. The INTP is also typically shy and may experience difficulty when talking with people they do not know. However, when they are comfortable with people or knowledgeable about a topic, the INTP can be very outgoing and talkative. The INTP’s feeling of success depends upon their opportunities to exercise their active mind, their opportunities to seek and find Truth, and the condition of their relationships and extraverted life. As an INTP, you have gifts that are specific to your personality type that aren’t natural strengths for other types.
