The Journal of Counseling Psychology® publishes empirical research in the areas of. counseling activities (including assessment, interventions, consultation, supervision, training, prevention, psychological education, and advocacy) career and educational development and vocational psychology. Although an incredibly competitive field to train in with many years of study required, becoming a counselling psychologist is an extremely rewarding career path to take. A mid-career Counseling Psychologist with 4-9 years of experience earns an average salary of ₹4.8 Lakhs per year, while an experienced Counseling Psychologist with 10-20 years of experience earns an average salary of ₹7 Lakhs per year. The opportunities for paid employment in counselling field is increasing, but there are still not enough jobs for everyone who is professionally trained. Many roles are part-time or voluntary. Is a counselling psychologist a psychologist?
Counselling psychology is a broad specialization within professional psychology concerned with using psychological principles to enhance and promote the positive growth, well-being, and mental health of individuals, families, groups, and the broader community. Research shows a generally high job satisfaction among the profession, but everyone can have bad days. Counseling is an emotionally taxing job and sometimes the clients’ problems can hit too close to home. With adequate self-care, however, counselors are happy (and happy to help). Clinical Psychologist are professionals with an MPhil in Clinical Psychology (wherein they have had an intensive experience of seeing clients under supervision and training).
