What is a hot question?
An easy way to motivate students and encourage engagement is to capture their attention by posting a HOT (High Order Thinking) Question for the class to discuss. HOT questions require students to apply, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information instead of simply recalling facts. A Hot Text question is a question with potential answers highlighted. Students must click on one or more of the highlighted answer choices to select the best answer (see figure 1). This question type can only be created for assessments that are administered online. Broadly, a problem question involves a given set of facts followed by an instruction to advise the respective parties on their rights and any remedies they may have. Problem questions really test students’ understanding of a particular section of work.
