How can I be a unique character?
The only way to make a character truly unique is to change their core essence, those deep elements behind all people, not just fictional characters. While there are some similarities between people, what makes each person so special is their individuality. Personality traits, likes and dislikes, and life experiences all contribute to making someone different from everyone else. It’s not as hard as you might think — or as easy. But all unforgettable characters have one thing in common: they are strong. Physically strong, mentally strong, of strong opinion, or strong on the humor. There is some facet of them that goes the extra mile, and that makes all the difference. Being genuine and honest is essential to being likeable. No one likes a fake. People gravitate toward those who are genuine because they know they can trust them. It is difficult to like someone when you don’t know who they really are and how they really feel. “What makes you unique?” actually translates to “What skills, qualities and experiences make you the best candidate for this job?” By asking this question, employers are inviting you to brag about yourself and your best qualities, and tell them what differentiates you from other graduate candidates.
How do you make a character face unique?
Give your character unique facial features. Give them dimples, freckles, or unique markings on their face. Give them poor vision so they need to wear eyeglasses. Maybe they wear heavy makeup or have piercings. Think of different ways you can create unique facial features that help define a character. But what is it that makes a face pretty and attractive? Different facial cosmetic features can make a face pretty when they come together. Big, alert eyes, a small, proportional nose, perky cheeks, a well-defined jawline, or full lips usually grab people’s attention and strike them as beautiful. What are innocent face features? Larger eyes, smaller noses, smaller chins and chubby cheeks. We are hardwired into their innocent faces makes us less aggressive, more generous, smiley and helpful. These cues fly beneath our conscious most, it not all, of the time. Likeable characters are those that the audience can empathise with and are somewhat different to the other characters in the story. Likeable characters stand out from the rest and usually become iconic characters and fan-favourites. These types of characters share similar qualities that emulate their likeability. People often use facial appearances to judge others’ personality traits. A new paper finds people are more likely to rely on appearances when judging traits related to sociability. Judgments based on appearances are usually incorrect and can lead to biased decisions.
